In July 2009, Kurdistan Organization of Animal Rights Protection was welcomed as a member society of MENAW, the Middle East Network for Animal Welfare.

The VANO,MERAN veterinary company ,General department of health and veterinary department donation amount of veterinary drugs and equipment to KOARP to distribution as a free campaign to 10 veterinary centers and two teams of forest national guard to treat animals of poor family, street animals and wild animals.

Today the 4 October as a first time during Iraq and Kurdistan region history we are celebrate a party about (World Animal Day) in animal zoo in Duhok city.

Many sides participate in these events such of them:

1-    Kurdistan organization of animal rights protection(KOARP)

2-    Veterinary Directorate

3-    Representative off Duhok province

4-    Chiman nursery school

5-    Duhok Animal zoo officials

The celebration includes a welcome word of Kurdistan organization of animal rights protection by Dr. Sulaiman T. Saeed General manager

, after that the government word by Mr.Majd S.Salih ,he appreciate the efforts spends for this day  and after that a grope of  activities sach as  poem, sing and marionette don by student of chiman  nursery school and after that an aerobics plays with animals don by kennel hand of animal zoo  then finally distribution of present.

For the first time in its history, Iraq observes the “World Rabies Day” this event take place on 29/9/2009 in the city of Duhok in Kurdistan Region. The activity includes a seminar on the subject of rabies as an important disease of the community health beside its serious hazard on human life. This activity was arranged and concluded by directorate of veterinary in Duhok, and presented by both Dr.Sulayman Temer (Head of Dep. of Animal Health) and Dr.Abdullah Ibrahim, Deputy of Emergency hospital in Duhok city, at the end there was constructive discussion by the attendance to reduce the appearance of this disease and how to control it? and what is need to reach the good cooperation between the linked parts and institutions?

Its important to mention that attendance where from veterinarians from the directorate of veterinary , physician from Dep. of health, university of Duhok, college of Veterinary Medicine, Dep. of Environment, Farmers,  Ministry of Agriculture in Kurdistan Region .

KOARP is to raise public awareness about animal welfare in Kurdistan and all Iraq and we strive to provide assistance to homeless, neglected and abandoned animals by providing veterinary care, rescue and adoption services, to domestic, wild and pet animals in Kurdistan and all Iraq.

• treatment of any abused or injured animals spp. Street animals, and animal of poor family.
• adoption of street animal , neglected and abandoned animals in shelter or haven.
• printy and distribution of book about animal welfare spp. for children as free of charge to people.
• improve animals condition in animal zoo and human treatment in slaughterhouse .
• vaccination campaign to all street animals spp .dog and cats.
• sterilization (nutring) to decreases number of street animals spp. dog and cats .
• mobil clinic to help poor family by giving veterinary care with free of charge.
